The mission

The Arts University Bournemouth host a prestigious graduation event and approached us to organise the champagne reception event for over 3,000 of their guests. 

It was decided that the champagne reception was to be hosted on the Bournemouth seafront to offer graduates the chance to enjoy their refreshments with inspiring views.

Our approach

We set about sourcing the right location. With over 1,000 guests to be attending 3 sessions, and to make the most of the Bournemouth seaside views, there were no suitable venues available, so we planned to host the event in a temporary structure marquee.

We found a location, next to the beach, which was public space meaning we had to work closely with the local council, to plan the event. As our team was tasked with delivering the entire logistics (including health and safety), we had to attend SAG meetings and approach a number of local authorities including: environmental health, Dorset fire service, ambulance service and the police. We had to demonstrate our detailed plans for the event and go through rigorous risk assessments. 

Having planned all elements of the event and logistics, we started getting to work.

We erected a 50m x 25m marquee on the chosen waterfront site. We then delivered essential facilities, including toilets and electricity distribution, and furnishings. We installed a professional event bar, which kept guests refreshed and was stocked with champagne and strawberries. We decorated the marquee structure with contemporary white furniture, rustic metal flower pots, giant AUB letters and plenty of bright blooms.

The outcome

We created a bright and airy temporary event space that offered attendees an inspiring seaside location for their special day. We managed all planning, logistics and the events themselves.
