The mission

Lush cosmetics gave us a call, to help with getting their Manufacturing teams together for an event on site. Our mission was pretty clear: we had to build and manage a unique employee event for over 1,000 people and deliver it in just four weeks time.

Our approach

We started the project by closely collaborating with the client team to understand their goals and motivations. We had several site visits and creative meetings and then set about the creative planning process, which included some careful infrastructure and logistical planning to meet the four-week deadline.

The brief for the event included a main area for over 1,000 seated guests with a number of different areas, to host departments of the business including an area for the Lush careers department and an area for their dairy manufacturing department.

It was decided that there wasn’t a space suitable for the event to host over 1,000 people, or the smaller departmental areas, so we’d build them instead. These areas came in the form of a 60m x 25m main temporary structure marquee alongside several smaller structures and catering lounges.

We completed a site survey, produced scaled 3D drawings and a full site plan. We then set about planning the build, event and de set timings and the overall operational plan.

From the commencement of the build we had 48 hours from patch of concrete to multiple event venue(s). We set about installing the temporary structures, power distribution, staging, catering, decoration and theming and event furniture. 

To make sure guests could relax, interact and stay refreshed during the event breaks, we installed a 20ft converted shipping container bar, which provided fresh juices and water. Alongside we installed a 30m x 15m stretch tent as a catering lounge, which was a great social destination, where staff members could mingle and enjoy delicious vegetarian and vegan food from the street food traders on site.

Post-event, the catering lounge transformed into a social bar, filled with reclaimed wooden seating, funky lighting and live entertainment and music.

The outcome

We managed the event for Lush Cosmetics from start to finish – from designing the site, installing the temporary infrastructure and structures, to the furniture, decoration and on site event management. The result was a vibrant staff event, which was completely in keeping with the company’s brand and ethos. It was a great success.
